Getting down to business! | Stillwater MN Headshot Photographer

There are many changes to today's workplace and over the last few moths I have learned there are many individuals making changes to their lives. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday's during the week I have the pleasure of meeting professionals from all over the Twin Cities and just across the pond in Hudson.

I am like the Black Book of headshot photographers as I do have a gallery on my site however I do not do a ton of posting about these sessions. They are fast, in office, on location ($150.00) travel fee outside of Stillwater, MN or local to downtown.

Right now backdrops for in studio, one person no large groups (in space) are warm gray, white, black and a light gray\blue. I try to offer 15 options per guest, if we just rock out some more because we are Vibing and you have a second look option it can be up to 25. I have a flat office rate and a flat on location rate, group rate for local and on location.

It is senior season, however during the summer I try to keep to 3:30 - 7 time frame so that leaves us 8am - 1pm on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to hang together, update or create some headshots you can be proud of along with some image options you are able to take and use across all types of media.

I love that they are able to have fun with this not take things too seriously and rock out some bad ass imagery. PS: I know a lot of companies do not any longer have a budget for group sessions. I love that sometimes a group decides to make a day of this, team bond and stop in to hang with me along the way: Be good to your people, they will give you everything.

Destination Locations | MN Senior Photographer

This year '24 Travel Crew will be headed to Sandestin Florida in November to the beautiful and very gated safe Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. We fly into Fort Walton Beach Florida, uber to the resort. There is no need to rent a car, everything is on site. Shopping, the beach, many restaurants to choose from and so many amenities for my seniors and their mom's to use and expierence while not on a shoot.

AMENITIES

As a guest of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort you will receive complimentary unlimited health club access for adults and 4-hour bicycle rental daily for two. Also included is 1-hour of kayaking (seasonal), 1-hour of boogie board (seasonal) and 1-hour of tennis courts each day per unit (after the hours of 11am). In addition, registered guests are entitled to resort transportation to/from designated stops. I typically stay at Hotel Effie in a suite with Shelly my HMUA. I select this space due to rooftop access and find the rooms large and beautiful for my guests to get styled and their hair and makeup done in. (Shelly seriously loves the pool roof top and will spend every second there that she is not needed for hair and makeup, mom's it is the best and I am sure she would love some company!!!)

How sessions work. There is a flat rate fee for travel crew, check out the shop for full fee. A MN, WI or Louisiana session comes with this collection. You will receive all of your files with this collection. HMUA in Florida if we decide to use her. It is up to my guests collective vote if they would like the luxury of have Shelly along. If not she will come with your MN senior session if your. a young lady looking for this service. My guys! $150.00 will be deducted from your chosen location senior session as there is no need for this unless you would like fresh hair, skin or shave. It is really up to each guest!

Travel crew will purchase a shirt or hat from the shop to be somewhat unified while we are on local together for a group shoot. While this may seem extravagant for some, this is an amazing memory to make with your senior, no location is off limits while we are there. I send an email with all the locations examples and times of day. Each guest is allowed to sign up for ALL locations or the areas that speak to them the most.

While my guest are allowed to do what ever they wish during the day while they are not due on location, I prefer that we eat as a group in the evening. I sort of know the lay of the land now and know when we have to be in a line or what places take reservations.

Location! Location! Location! Let's Get Y'all Thinking About It! | MN, Senior Photographer

Crazy, class of 2023 has not even gotten out the door and yet it seems if you have not booked your photographer for your '24 senior pictures you may already be feeling behind, overwhelmed or just wondering where to begin.

No worries, this is the perfect time to start getting excited about all the fun decisions and details that will make up your senior year portrait session. The images you are able to look back on years from now and still be in love with and proud of.

This week I am blogging my favorite locations. I love scouting out the perfect situations for my session experiences. There is so much that goes into the "location" decision, but it dose not have to be overwhelming. Lets break it down into some questions you can answer for yourself, it may even inspire you to get excited and start a Pinterest board or a collection of images put into a folder in your phone.

Meaningful Location: This can be anywhere. Your farm, home, favorite coffee house, ice cream place (Nelsons anyone???), park even a job location. I have seen it all and nothing is off the table when it comes to making your portrait session unique and your own. Do you have a location in mind yet? I want to hear all about it!

A Place You VIBE With!: Fitting your personality with your location s a huge part of choosing where your senior portraits will be made. I have had guests that feel they are very Urban but all of their examples and Pinterest boards show me "country" vibes and vise versa. I always have my clients share a collection of images with me for this reason. This helps me tailor your session to you.

Choosing that place you feel connected to will help you feel comfortable and excited to be there. Also it is easy for me to help style you once the locations have been selected. So who are you as an individual? Country? Urban? or are you a mix and need a glimpse of both in your final images. I hope you are building a picture in your head and beginning to see your looks and your perfect local! I want to hear all about where you fit and how we can bring your vision to fruition.

Below are some of my locations from meaningful, urban, country and some places off-roading and in-between. I love the in-between.

That meaningful place! This is Miss Emma's farm she barrel races horses. Working in her at home setting felt natural and connective for her. So fun for me!!!

Your Home Town! Audra lives in Windom Mn, we had the best day on her grandparents farm, her farm with her family and played a bit downtown to give a urban feel to her images.

Levi's Farm was the place he felt most connected to. And the truck was a MUST!

John's Hometown and truck! Forest Lake, MN. We used Hule's for our location. Fun because I believe the city is tearing it all down now. But for John's photos it was a perfect fit. He did not really care where in Forest Lake we were but he wanted to have a country vibe. Done!

Her favorite corse and if I remember correctly the #7th hole. It is right in her back yard. Spending the day with my Legacy families is a favorite of mine. Kyra's meaningful place was right on the coarse where she feels right at home! These locations are all private, safe and there is no hoofing around. We get out and get to work.

Country: My field is a favorite (pictured below) but in my area I have the Boom Site and an off road local that I love and is a guest favorite. Also one new Somerset Location that is so off the beaten path, my assistant found if for me last year.

Urban Locals: Stillwater and surrounding locations are my favorite. It is an urban feel without the fighting to get downtown and park. However St. Paul is another favorite spot by the St. Paul Hotel. Minneapolis The first image featured here has gorgeous locations that are versatile.

This week is all about locations! These are the basics most choose. Meaningful, Country or Urban. The next blog will be about Travel Crew. The locations will be the same as a year ago for my current guests traveling with me this year.
