Senior Session Soft Prep Blog #1 | Stillwater, MN Senior Photographer | Class 2026

PURPERA STYLE

So it is early February and I bet you are thinking and planning for Valentine's day or even looking ahead to prom; so your summer or fall senior session may seem WAY too far out to think about. But this is the perfect time to hone in on a few early soft prep items.

First: Decide what month fits you and your schedule. Maybe you are a shorts guy, or a little dress in field girl. Maybe you have a crazy sports schedule and have to work around your season. Maybe you love a layered look and fall colors. This is important to nail down, or at Purpera Style Seniors we have a session that gives a little mix of both. Either way, knowing will help you start nailing down your session vibe, look and feel.

Second: Start reaching out to photographers, especially before April. Many of us book up quick in the hot summer and fall months so grabbing your perfect date may not be an option heading into May. I have people typically reaching out 6 months before May, these are my "Early Commits." They are able to get on the books for their month and date of choice, also when it comes to weather rschedules, they receive first priority.

Third: LOOKS!

In Minnesota it is still pretty cold and thinking about putting on a sweet little sundress or your lululemon shorts and shirt may seem hard to think about but it is a perfect time to start getting online and binging looks on your favorite zone out media. This will get you thinking about how and maybe even where you envision yourself for your senior session.

So while we are on the topic of "Looks" aside from personal style, let's look at what is trending this season.

For the ladies, floral, playful asymmetry in cuts and patterns sheer fabrics with sophisticated details. Fun sporty looks, blazers shades of reds, yellows and soft pastels.

For the guys, total Athleisure, a comfortable cool look that can have a preppy or dressy feel for a refined and sophisticated look.

It can be fun to start looking ahead and getting excited about how you want to look for your senior session. This little post is just to get you thinking about a few things to get the ball rolling at this time in the season. Month, booking your photographer and your looks. Blog #2 will be about seasons so. you are able to find the one that work best for you.

2026 Senior Season Info. & The Early Commits Link | Stillwater, MN Senior Photographer

This link is live until April 1st, when the general application link will go live. This is year 2 of early commits link and it has proven to be so useful for families that need to have the first choice of summer and fall dates due to their athletes busy schedules and pure lack of time.

This link is also only for guests who know they are going to book. If you are new to me and still have questions on collections, investments and offering please do email me at purperatyelphoto@gmail.com and I will be happy to email you or set up a time to chat so you are able to take advantage of early booking as well.

Some fun new offerings this year at Purpera Style are:

1. Same week image and ordering review. All sessions shot Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be available to view on Saturday of the same week or Sunday evening (appointments will be scheduled for early viewing on the day your senior session is scheduled.)

2. Ordering Sessions: This scares most guests, however you will be armed with all the information before your senior session so the planning, budgeting and stress of an ordering session will be removed. We will build your dream session and then provide you will the most beautiful ways to display them for keepsakes. If you are a guest that does not live in state, we will provide a order appointment via video call. Your products will be ordered the next day and have a 7-10 day creation and delivery time.

3. The Shattuck Group Session - This was created out of the past season for my prep-school and Jr, AAA players have so little time and some fly in for their sessions and have a 72 hour window for photos. This is a group session that fit my guys like a glove and happened multiple times this past 2025 senior season. It is for groups, teams and multi senior pairs. Friends and teammates who have limited schedules to book separately.

Some offerings that are remaining the same are:

1. My HMUA remains Shelly Hogan, she is the owner of The Blackstones in Stillwater MN. You may finder on Instagram @creationsbyshelly. Some benefits to working exclusively with a HMUA is timing. Shelly books a year in advance with weddings and she works for my guests tirelessly on her day off, fits them in between her own guests and is available to travel and be with us on the day of. My guests LOVE Shelly. All of my guests, ones who do not wear any or a lot of makeup, athletes and my guests who wear hair and makeup regularly. Shelly plays up your beauty but you still feel like yourself.

   
   

2. Grit & Grace sessions. These sessions are for all who are looking for a summer\fall split session or a senior session\sports\passion session combination. For early commits you will have your choice of dates and months for your split session.

3. Fall Senior Mini Sessions. The link for these go live the last week in August and fill up quickly. Some things to think about if you feel this is for you. These are held in Stillwater MN only. They are offered on Tuesday and Thursday weekdays only (unless we have to make a exception due to weather) There is one location out of 3 offered. The session is 35 min. long and we are able to work out a couple looks for this session.

This is going to be an amazing season, I am excited to get busy with a new crew and watch how 2025-2026 unfolds.

Sunflower Field Fall Mini Event 2024 | September 8,15,22

Fall blooms are so fun to play in. Lets let those sweet little sun dresses make one more cameo before we have to put them up for the season. I will be offering 3 Sunday's through September, this is the month for the projected best blooms both at Andover Sunflower Field and for Fish Fields.

Each guest will be contacted via text to book thier time slot via a link. A $50.00 depost will be due that day to book your slot. Full investment will be $175.00 balance due the day of session.
